What Can Your Gift Make Possible?

With your generous gift, the foundation is able to fund vital hospital needs, which only enhance Providence’s ability to deliver the best in patient care to our community.  This could be through investments in innovations in medical science and technology, help patients with insufficient resources cover the cost of their care, improve department facilities, or fund new patient programs.

CenteringPregnancy® provides prenatal care to women in a supportive group format. Moms-to-be take responsibility for their own health, track pregnancy progress, and learn about prenatal growth needs and what to expect during labor and delivery. Participants support one another and bond as they prepare for childbirth together.

  • 150 Centering groups have been initiated at Center for Life.
  • The percentage of Centering mothers who delivered premature infants was 5% in 2015 comapred to the rate of 9.6% for the U.S. overall and 10.4% for D.C.*
  • The percentage of Centering mothers who breastfed was 87% in 2015 comapred to a rate of 79.2% for the U.S. overall and 77.6% for D.C.**

Breast Cancer Patient Navigator Program

Patient Beverly Battle with one of our Health Navigators, Gail Smith-Nyachowe

Many women needing mammograms simply do not get them. They may be fearful, or lack necessary resources. Additionally, newly diagnosed women can be too distraught and overwhelmed to investigate and access care options. With assistance from our community partners, Breast Cancer Patient Navigation services are available at Providence. Patient Navigation provides breast health services that are…

  • Comprehensive
  • Coordinated
  • Patient-centered
  • Efficient
  • High-quality

…for women who might not be able to otherwise receive care. Our community partners help us champion the cause of a medically underserved woman at a time when she is feeling particularly vulnerable.

Grant support for the Providence Hospital Breast Cancer Navigation Program includes:

  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure
  • The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention
  • The EagleBank Foundation
  • NIH Study through The George Washington Cancer Institute
